Dollarama Tech Find: Mouse Pad

Tech 1 Mouse Pad with Wrist Rest

Non-slip backing

Price – $1.50

My Rating: 5/5

If you are looking to purchase a basic mouse pad, you might want to consider looking at a dollar store near you. I was looking for a mouse pad and to my surprise Dollarama had one. Turns out, it might just do the trick for you as it has me, and at a fantastic price. This basic mousepad was only $1.50, and it works just as good as my mouse pad that I bought from Amazon for $15.

It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and it really is a good pad considering the price. It is comfortable for a good period of time, and it’s more relaxing for my wrist as I can rest it on the wrist support. This mouse pad doesn’t slip when in use and it glides across accurately. The fabric stays intact — I have been using it for a week with a decent amount of use, and my  fingernails haven’t left any scratches. It’s only been a week, but it’s a little surprising that it hasn’t shown any signs of wear, yet. I love it, I love it even more because I spent next to nothing instead of blowing my money on an expensive mouse pad that does the exact same thing!

For $1.50 it’s worth a try to see if you like it… why wouldn’t you?

Dollarama Tech Finds: Tech1 Tablet-Smartphone Holder

Price – $3.50

Another day, another Dollarama deal! This one does exactly what it says – it’s a holder for your devices, at a nice low price.

It holds your iPhone perfectly fine, but you can’t trust your tablet on it as it doesn’t seem very secure and it will tip over if you’re not careful.

When your iPhone is placed on this holder, it fits snug – I feel like it wouldn’t tip over very easily. The base is very solid and there are four gripper pads on the bottom which help everything keep in place. It seems to be the perfect height and I think it’s just right for your smartphone.

There are a lot of colour choices to choose from, and for $3.50 it’s a fantastic deal for this sort of thing. Seriously, why pay more if you don’t have to? This thing is basically the same as a higher priced one, maybe even better because the base is very solid.

If you’re looking for a smartphone holder/stand, I believe you’re safe with this one and you really are getting a bang for your buck!

Dollarama Tech Finds: Tech1 AC To USB Adapter

Here’s another Dollarama discovery, the Tech1 AC to USB adapter. This one is a pretty basic tech gadget. You will be buying this to hopefully charge your smartphone or tablet or smaller devices. This one can charge up to two devices at a time, and if you’re wondering how it works – turns out it works pretty good!

This is what you are working with:

Input – 100 – 240V – 5V – 2.4A

2 USB

Basic stuff.

It charges my iPad and iPhone at the same time, safely, like it should. When I first plugged my charger into the unit, it didn’t seem to go in all the way at first. I had to force it a bit. After a little bit of force it went in all the way, but it does seem a bit tight. I would recommend this adapter if your plan is to keep it plugged in the wall, but I wouldn’t move it around too much.

There are three orange lights that make the unit look more exciting than it actually is, although I sometimes hate seeing lights in the dark. It still looks pretty cool, though.

I think if you’re looking to charge your devices, this is a decent option to go with, especially for the price.

Happy gadget finding!

Dollarama Tech Finds: Homedeco Cinema Lightbox

If you are on the lookout for an LED changeable quote sign, or maybe you might want one after seeing how good this one is, check out what I found at Dollarama.

Homedeco’s cinema lightbox is pretty much identical to one that you would buy at a higher price tag. It’s much cheaper than what most places would sell these for as the expensive ones are way overpriced, in my opinion. It’s a good deal, and it looks like this one is going to be a regular Dollarama item. So chances are, if you try to find one next time you go to your local Dollarama, you might be able to bring one of these nifty signs home with you for only $4.00.

What’s included?

85 letters, numbers and symbols printed on what they call a transfer sheet. There are 4-A’s, 2-B’s, 2-C’s, 2-D’s, 4-E’s, 2-F’s, 2-G’s, 3-H’s, 4-I’s, 2-J’s, 2-K’s, 3-L’s, 3-M’s, 3-N’s, 4-O’s, 2-P’s, 1-Q, 2-R’s, 4-S’s, 3-T’s, 4-U’s, 2-V’s, 2-W’s, 1-X, 2-Y’s, 1-Z, numbers 0-9, &, @, #, !, 2 hearts, umbrella, snowflake, and a cloud with rain. Everything you could ever want, right?! Note that you will need to split apart the transfer sheet as it comes as one piece. Also, the letters do slide off super fast and quick if you are not careful.

The light box is pretty simple and straightforward out of the box. You will need a small star screwdriver to remove the screw at the back for the batteries, but they are easy to install and they don’t pop out. It is a very solid backing.

It’s solid and sturdy. I have it hanging on my wall and it’s very secure. Hanging and removing this lightbox from the wall is very easy to do, but just be careful not to tip it over on the side too much.

There is a switch on the side to turn it off and on, which is a really nice feature. The switch is very solid and secure when turning it off and on while it’s on the wall especially.

The light box is an extremely super cute room decor item for any room, for any occasion, special announcements, photoshoots, weddings and so much more. It looks amazing when placed anywhere, with the light on or off. It’s such a fun thing at the right price. I’ve always wanted this, or something like it, but I would never pay more than $8 for it.

This box allows you to be creative with words. I placed mine in my office, and it’s a perfect addition there. It’s a great motivational piece to inspire you each and every day if you wanted to give yourself encouraging words to live by. You could also use it to leave fun messages for your significant other or other family members or roommates. Kids in particular should get a kick out of it.

I absolutely give this light box a 100% thumbs up. Don’t forget to buy the batteries! It requires four AA’s. Have fun with your box, and remember, if it’s worth saying, it’s worth saying in light!

Dollarama Tech Finds: Silver Crest Desk Organizer

Finding the ultimate desk organizer can be challenging, but wait a minute – Dollarama sells these handy gadgets for only $4 and there’s lots of compartments!

This thing is sweet. I’ve already fallen in love with it.

What the back of the box says:

3 USB ports, smartphone/tablet holder fits most standard devices and features an access point for a charging cable

Various compartment sizes for office supplies

Multi functional and compact

Includes USB-A to USB-3.0 cable (approx. 1m)

Thoughts upon opening the box: The plastic feels weird, but it looks great and it’s definitely solid. Seems to be durable, convenient and it’s absolutely thrilling for someone like me who likes to try and keep everything in its place. I started liking it more and more once I knew two of my devices charged properly.

Other stores sell these products, but they don’t look anything like this one and they are way more expensive. This is crazy! My desk sometimes looks like a dungeon, so this setup should organize everyone’s problems.

This product is very well priced for the quality and durability that it offers. It’s especially cheap for students, entrepeneurs, people working from home and the tidy ones that like a clean work station.

The two black plastic pieces are probably for the size of your smartphone chargers, but since there are no instructions, I can’t be sure.  When installing, you want to pull the cord up from the bottom and wrap it where the opening is, then press down and insert.

I ended up using my iPhone charger in the smartphone spot rather then trying to charge it with USB out.

I have successfully charged my FitBit and book light so far, but I don’t know about an iPad or laptop. I think smaller devices would work best. This does make the product misleading because on the box it shows that you can charge your laptop and tablet, but these options do not work for me. Storing your iPad at the back seems like a better idea to me. I’ve added a sticky pad, some pens, paper clips and so much more in these handy compartments.

If you are looking for a small desk organizer, this might be the one for you!
