Why You Should Choose Wireless Charging For Your PS4 Controllers

It’s mid 2020 already, let’s just forget about the cables on this one – if you haven’t considered getting a wireless charger for your PlayStation 4 controller, here are some reasons why you should get one. It’s a safe, fast and easy experience for all gamers.

Wireless chargers are so much better than the standard micro USB cord. Wireless charging gives you a better charging experience right from the start. This charger eliminates cords. Do you hate having to bend down to grab the cord, or do your cords get tangled amongst other cords? Not to mention you have to carefully insert the USB micro charger into the controller the proper way or over time you will put wear and tear on the controller.

Forget it! Wireless charger = No more of that.

Here’s my reasons why this charger is a must for your gaming needs:

  1. Easy to install. It’s less work – just place it in the docking station, and the wireless charger does the rest for you. Once the charger is placed in its new home, it stays there and you no longer have to worry about bending down to grab the cord. Just forget about having to deal with those annoying cords completely! All you have to do is put it on the base and away you go. A clean setup. If you prefer not bending down to charge your controller, you should place the base up higher rather than lower.
  2. Dual charging. Most of these designs seem to charge two controllers at the same time. This is a really nice experience again, without extra cords getting in your way. It’s always handy to have two controllers charged, especially if you’re planning a long gaming session. Nobody wants to stop half way through a game to charge your controller. Another useful feature is that since the charger can be plugged into the wall with an AC adapter, you don’t have to have your console turned on to charge them.
  3. Copper technology. Most of these chargers are upgraded with copper technology rather than aluminum. Copper gives you an overall better performance as it is less resistant than aluminum. This type of technology is better for electronics.
  4. LED Charge indicator lights. Located on the front of the charger, the lights clearly tell you the charging status at a glance without having to touch the controller to find out. The LED lights are bright, but not too bright – just enough brightness to glow in the dark.
  5. Prevents damage. These chargers work very well and don’t use the top of the controller to charge; instead, it uses the Ext. port that’s on the bottom of the controller. This is something. When you charge the controller with the USB in the top port of the controller, it can wear down over time. With this wireless base you won’t have to use the cord anymore – this solves all the weird charging issues with USB micro, such as having to wiggle the cord around to get it going. These problems can be forgotten when using the dock. It also has push mechanism so you don’t have to worry about yanking the controller off the base or falling off the base.
  6. Intelligent protection chips. Charging will stop at 100 % and that’s it. If the controller is left on the base to charge for too long, it will never damage your controller, keeping it protected and safe to give the battery a longer lifetime. No more overcharging. Most of these chargers have overheat, over-currant, over-voltage and short circuit protection. This is amazing, especially for such a small price. What nice features to have – full protection and saves you money in the long run.
  7. Aesthetically pleasing. It’s nice to look at – looks amazing, awesome and it’s super stylish. I can display my controllers while charging at the same time and it looks real good. Like a little alien head or something.
  8. Sturdy. It’s durable and solid but yet small and lightweight. There are rubber feet on the bottom which prevents the base from sliding around and falling, which means less damage. It’s very well built.
  9. Price. It’s so cheap, and well worth the money. You will be suprised by the price for what you get.

Most of these wireless chargers are compatiable with PS4, PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro.

This is the one I got off Amazon:

PS4 Controller Charger, OIVO Dualshock 4 Controller USB Charging Station Dock with LED Light Indicators, Playstation 4 Charging Station for Sony Playstation4 / PS4 / PS4 Slim / PS4 Pro Controller

Finally a device that does the job like it should!

I would give this a 9/10. I haven’t had one complaint about this charger and I’ve been using it for about five months now. It’s worth every cent. Everything I listed above, this charger has accomplished it all. I’ve forgotten it on the base for a day and it’s still working as it should.

Ovio says they have 5 year support, so they must know their product is a good one and that should help make your decision about buying it worry-free. In the long run it will pay for itself.

This charger makes your gaming experience more fun and carefree since it’s such a breeze to use right out of the box.

This wireless charger is amazing for many reasons. If you’re able to – go get yourself one!

Buyers Tips – Reliable Phone Cases: What I Recommend For Your Smartphone Apple or Android Devices

Your smartphone tags along with you everywhere you go. Do you drop your phone often? Are you up for an adventure if your case doesn’t do the job protecting it from falls? Or… do you even believe in case protection at all?

What is your idea of the perfect phone case? What makes you choose the perfect one?
Is it.. Protection? Durability? Looks? Comfortability? Price? What do you specifically go for when you want to dress up your phone? Maybe you aim for them all but can you find one that does it all?

The real question is, what SHOULD you be looking for when buying a case if you’re serious about protection? Price doesn’t matter – you need to pay attention to certain details when looking for this stuff and sometimes it’s tough.

Here are some keywords to look for when shopping for a reliable case:

Durability
Protection from impact
Dual layer
Grip
x foot drop protection
Military grade protection
Shock barrier

Everything else you get is just an extra bonus 😉

Let’s start with the packaging – what does the packaging say about the case? This can tell you a lot about the product… have a close look at it. Get to know the brand. Does the packaging do a good job of advertising the product? If the description looks like it’s done up quick or there’s not much of one at all, but the case looks pretty and dope while also looking sorta thin and cheap – it probably is and it might not protect you fully. You should have something reliable.

Look to see if it would be slippery in your hands or slide around on a surface. Does it look like cheap plastic? Can you see any grips on the back? It should have a slightly thick-ish solid rubber to protect from falls. That’s what really prevents your device from being damaged. This is what I mean by not worrying about the price. At Dollarama they sell different cases for iPhones and some of them seem to be decent enough for the price. Before you buy it, have a look at the company – check out what they got going on Google. The case should have a thicker edge and look like it’s got some grip on the back. If you can spot these two things, you should be good to go. Don’t worry, you can cheap out on some of these. If you buy the right one from Dollarama, it will do a decent job. These are okay to buy. I mean, not everyone can afford a somewhat expensive phone case.

Often when devices see the tech trainers, it’s because of shattered screens. If the phone drops and it lands on the corner, it’s definitely going to smash or crack the screen. Certain cases do a great job at protecting against these things. If the case doesn’t have a pre-installed built-in screen protector, you should consider tempered glass for maximum protection.

My new favorite smartphone company is Speck and I think I will be sticking with them. When I look for a case, I want something that offers solid grip and good protection, but I also appreciate having a colorful design. I need a case with a good grip that feels comfortable in my hand since I use my phone for hours on a daily basis. It’s a good feeling when you find an honest brand to know your device is safe from falls. I’ve had so many phone cases, I’m tired of dealing with new ones.

Candyshell Grip — Designed For Impact
Drop-tested: Meets or exceeds military standards
No-slip grip: Raised rubber grips for secure hold and confident control
Dual-layer impact protection: Exterior layer disperses impact while interior layer absorbs shock
Bezel screen protection: Raised bezel protects screen from impact

This company seems to be promising. I decided to look on Twitter to see what the latest tweets were under keyword “Speck case” and I came across someone’s tweet that said they had dropped their phone from a three-storey apartment and their phone survived intact. That’s crazy good. Their device was being protected with Speck. So yeah, it’s got to be good.

You don’t have to be, but you should be slightly concerned if your phone isn’t fully protected. These devices are super expensive; who wants to spend extra money and waste time dealing with problems caused by accidental falls? Certainly not me – I do care about my sanity. Are you one that has spent numerous dollars on smartphones because of accidents? Think about it, some of these phones are just as much as rent for the month. You break your phone accidentally and you end up having to buy a new one on top of paying all your other bills. Investing in the right protection for such a valuable device seems like a wise decision to me.

Dollarama Finds: Tech Cases

Dollarama might be the golden ticket if you are searching for some tech cases for your devices. I was on the hunt for a laptop case, tablet case and a Nintendo Switch case. I searched Amazon.ca and found 1 case alone was around $20. At Dollarama I found 3 cases for all my gadgets under $15! Turns out these cases are actually really nice which is awesome. I think cases from the dollar store are true tech bargins so next time you pop into one have a look down the electronics aisle, you might be surprised what you find! Keep in mind not all stores will sell the same product, you might find the exact same one or a similar one!

Here are my finds:

Dollarama Find: PlayStation Gaming Tee

Dollarama Tech & Game Finds
Canada

Official Licenced Product: Playstation Buttons Tee
Short Sleeve T-Shirt // Unisex // 100% Cotton
Size: Large
Price: $4
Company: Makerwear

Attention all Canadian gamers! I found this shirt at Dollarama that you might want to bring home to add to your gaming wardrobe! It’s black with PlayStation controller button faces (triangle, circle, cross, square) in white print on the front.

My review: Upon opening I could feel that the shirt is very thin, but that doesn’t mean anything. It fits very comfortably, it’s breathable and flexible. I think it fits very well and I would say anyone that finds one of these shirts at such an affordable price scored big!

My research: The back of the box says MakerWear Inc. 2016 / http://www.makerwear.com. I visited the website and makerwear.com is for sale! It seems like Dollarama got these because they went out of business. That would explain why they are being sold at such a good price. I’ve only seen one review on Poshmark about this product and it said the print on the front was cracking and fading.

I like the shirt so far, but we will see what happens after a few washes!

Fido Internet Review: Update

It’s been almost a year since I wrote about Fido’s Internet. I believe it’s time you guys need an update to see how Fido is holding up. After a year, I’m giving Fido’s internet an 8 out of 10.

It looks like once you’ve reached a year with Fido, they may just offer you affordable deals you can work with.

Like I said it’s been a few months and I’m still satisfied. I have experienced some disconnections, but I have been using more devices on the network than I was a few months ago – 4 consoles, 2 PCs, phones, tablet, TV and possibly more. Seems like a lot of devieces connected at once, but that’s just life. I’m not sure, but I think it’s my device usage all at once that could be choking out the internet and making it cloggy ONCE in a while. It doesn’t happen a lot, about twice weekly and at random times. But really, that’s nothing. Not all the time, but when there are a few devices connected at once on the same network, at the same time, we can’t really expect a 100% connection all the time. That’s just a bit unrealistic.

If you are experiencing modem issues, this usually calls for a reset. It’s time to give her a little rest. There is so much feed going through to the modem to satisfy our needs. If problems occur, reset it. You can do this by unplugging the power cord at the back of the modem. The normal wait time before you should plug it back in is around 1 minute, but I like to give her around 10 minutes. 5 minutes off and 5 minutes to get her gears going again. Reconnect the power adapter to the modem after 5 minutes. Once this is done, I find I don’t seem to experience as many disconnections. Before you even think about saying 10 minutes is too long, it’s actually not. That 10 minutes could be used to take a break or complete another task while you’re waiting. And who couldn’t use an extra 10 minutes away from internet anyways?

I have yet to get a LAN cable to see if it makes a difference… but using a LAN cable should make the connection stronger. If you have a LAN cable around the home and are using devices that support it, I would definitely be using it. Preferably Cat6 or higher. You can’t rely on wi-fi entirely to do a great job.

I’ve also taken a peek into the modem settings. You can check yours too by typing 192.168.0.1 into any web browser on any device. When you get here you will see username and password. Username is always going to be “cusadmin” which is the default and your password is what your wi-fi password is. Once you get into your Hitron modem, you will see lots of information about your device. To see how many devices are connected, just click on the basic tab on the top. If you see devices you no longer wish to keep on the list, you should remove them. Devices that are no longer being used shouldn’t be on the list as it will take up space which you don’t need anyways. This might help the connection be more stable. Another thing you can try is a device reboot. You can do this by clicking on Admin and at the very end click on device reset, and now the orange box that says Reboot. You can also change your username and password here as well.

These tips and tricks have helped me and I hope they help you too if you are experiencing disconnections. It’s true – usually a great deal means it’s garbage and there could be something fishy about it. But in this case I believe it’s worth it. You can’t expect a solid connection 100% of the time and for the price you just can’t beat Fido internet. You are better off trying the troubleshooting tips and go get a stress snack or get your body moving while you wait.

If you’re considering Home Internet from Fido, I would still go for it. The flaws aren’t that bad to want to change to another company that is probably way more expensive for what you get, and you could experience even more issues, so why bother if this option is more affordable and just as good?

Another good thing you can take advantage of (especially during this time) is that you can self-install it yourself. This keeps you and others safe. Self-install and home delivery means no contact and nothing to worry about in this department.

In Ontario – I’m very happy with Fido.
